I am an amateur genealogist, doing research of my family’s history, the Piasta family from Gibalka, Poland.

                             I need help from other Piastas to correct and complete my data of the Piasta family history.

         This website was created to establish contact with living members of the Piasta family to share and obtain more                                                                                information regarding the Piasta family.

                                                                          I can only do this with your help.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      The data contained herein has been furnished to the author by living members of the Piasta family, legal records, or            obtained from on – line sources, available to the public on the internet.  The author has made every attempt possible to                verify the accuracy and legitimacy.  Any inaccuracies are totally unintentional and will be corrected, if a person with                                                    better documented evidence can prove to the author otherwise.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  This is what I believe to be correct. 

   A PITOR and FELIX PIASTA were both born in GIBALKA POLAND.   PITOR was born about 1840 and FELIX about 1865.                     Due to the destruction of war, I can not obtain any more information regarding Pitor or Felix from Poland.                                                   I suspect they are related, but I can not come up with any documentation to confirm.                                          

         Pitor / Piotr /  Peter Piasta is my great – great grandfather.  My knowledge of Pitor’s descendants is very good.                               Pitor ( Peter ) Piasta married a women named either Katherine Traweska or it could be Katherine Kozinska.                                                            I have two different last names on 2 of Pitor’s children’s death certificates.          

                                                                             Katherine was born about 1847.

                              Pitor and Katherine had at least 3 sons and 1 daughter, all were known to be born in Gibalka:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Joseph Piasta, born about 1868, married Elenora Sobiech, died in Dudley MA in 1942. They had 11 children.                         6 reached adulthood, Roselia, Maryanna,  Joseph, Jr., Peter ( MD ) Stanley and Chester. The names of the children’s                              spouces included on the Pitor page are :  Nachajko, Kolnacki, Pretrevich, Lockwood, Zielinski, and Hunt.          

Adam Piasta, born about February 1873, was married to Franciszka ( Frances ) Majk / Majk.  They had 8 children, 7 reached adulthood: Joseph, Stanley, Roselia, Francis, Helena, Antoinette, Lt Col. John ( USAF retired ).  The names of the children’s               spouces included on the Pitor Piasta page are: Stypulkowski, Brier, Smolin, Zawalich, Prokuski, Solodyna, and                                                                                                                  Kochanowski                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Frances Piasta Florence was born 11 – 14 – 1879, married to John Florence, died in MI in 1964. They had 9 children,                          7 reached adulthood: Joseph,  Frank, Stanley, Walter, Anthony, Sr., Alexander, Ann, and Josephine.  The children’s                                   spouces names include:  Jornako, Chrzanowski, Haugh, Celenski, Brier, Mankowski, and Grzebik.

    Walter was born 3 – 25 – 1884, married Karolina / Caroline / Cora Sobuta, and died in Dudley MA on 12 – 22 – 1920.                        They had 7 children, 6 reached adulthood:  Helen, Josephine, Joseph, Stacia, Boleslaw ( William Louis ), and                                            Genevieve.  Names of spouces included are: King, Koz, Budnick, Sitkowski, Perceful, and Capuano. 

2 living members of the Piasta family have furnished me with enough evidence to believe there might be  a 4th son                                                                          of Pitor and Katherine, possibly named John / Janus.

It is believed that John lived in Webster or Dudley MA, did not like it, moved back to Poland, and was forcibly conscripted                                                                               into the German army in WW II.

             I have data of a John Piasta, married to a women named Mary, who lived in Webster in 1920 with 4 children:                                     Josephine, age 9, Helen, age 7, Alice, age 5, and Stella age 2 1/2. Is this the missing son I am looking for?

                                I strongly suspect that Felix Piasta was either Pitor Piasta’s nephew or baby brother.                                                                                                                   This  is what I know about FELIX PIASTA.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Felix Piasta was born about 1873, also in Gibalka, married a women named Katarzyna Suchecka / Catherine Suhorzka /                                                                              Katie Sushecka or Katherine Zahocki.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Felix and Catherine had at least 4 known children, that emigrated to the U.S.A.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Joseph, born 1891, married Anna Paperiska / Paperocki, died in Dudley, MA on  1 – June – 1970.                                 Joseph and Anna had 11 children, 9 reached adulthood:  Cecelia, Dorothy, Joseph, Jr., Frances, Walter, Josephine, Theresa,                                 Barbara, and Paul.    Spouces names include:  Milas, Nowak, Peters, Sysko, Wagner, and Zabka.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Mary Anna, born 24 – Dec – 1892 married  Tomasz ( Thomas )  Mroczka / Morczek died in MA in 1970.                                   They had 8 children, all reached adulthood.  Joseph, Mary, Frances, Josephine, Boleslaw, Frank, Amelia, and Theresa.                                          Spouces names include:  Freeland, Jezerski, Jones, Miller, and Spiewak.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Antonia, born in either 1892 or 1895, married John Urbanowski, and died in 1945.                                 They had 7 children: Joseph, died in service to our country on 3 – Mar – 1945, Helen, Stanley, William, Walter, Genevieve,                                       and Edward, who also also died in service to our country, in Korea, 14 – Sep – 1950.                                                                                                     Spouces names include: Darocha, Kopka and Stelmach.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Franciszka ( Frances ), was born 15 – Mar – 1894, married to Zigmont Zdrok and died on ? – Aug – 1962.                                              They had  5 children, Edward, Jane ( Jennie ), Sophie, aka Sr. Mary Amandine Zrock, Theresa, and Joseph.                                                                      Spouces names include, Miller, Rzeszutko, Wajer, and Woznicki.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Why do I believe that Pitor and Felix were related ? Grab a pencil, it is confusing and complicated.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          They both were from Gibalka, a small village, 71 miles northeast of Warsaw.

                                                                   Pitor had 3 sons:  Joseph, Adam and Walter.                                                                                                                                      Felix Piasta had  at least 1 son:  Joseph, that emmigrated to the United States.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         In the 1910 U.S. federal census,  a Joseph Piasta, age 19,  was living in Dudley, MA, USA, in the household of Joseph  ( son of               Pitor ).  This Joseph, ( son of Felix) age 19, was listed in the census, as being a cousin to Joseph, ( son of Pitor  ).                                               I have the death certificate for Joseph, son of Felix.  He died in 1970 at the age of 79.                                                                                                           That would make Joseph ( son of Felix ) 19 years old in 1910.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         

  In 1913, Walter,  son of Pitor, purchased a house lot and constructed a house on Pine Street, in Dudley, MA.                                                                                  I believe that Joseph, the son of Felix and wife Anna lived in this house on Pine Street also.                                               I have death certificates for 2 of their children,  Marianna and Kate.  Both died as infants on Pine Street, in Dudley, MA.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                I NEED YOUR HELP,  TRYING TO SOLVE THE MYSTERY OF THE PIASTA FAMILY.  IT WILL NOT BE EASY.                                                                                                I have the following questions:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   What was Pitor and Felix’s parent’s names ?   If their mother’s maiden name was the same, it would prove Pitor and                                                                                            Felix to be brothers.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    I suspect that Pitor had to have more brothers and sisters, other than possibly Felix. If so who ?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Did Pitor have a 4th son, possibly named Janus ( John ).                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Did Pitor have any other children that I am unaware of ?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  There are a lot of Piastas living in and around New York City and midwestern Canada.  Are we somehow related ?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      It is known that a grandson of Pitor, Alfred ( ” Freddy ” ) Piasta used to travel to Detroit, MI to visit with his great aunt, Frances Piasta Florence and her children.     There are Piastas that live in upstate New York between Buffalo and Syracuse.          It is believed by another Piasta family member that Freddy also traveled to Rochester ? / Syracuse ? to visit with                           other relatives.  Is there someone out there that knows of a ” cousin ” Alfred, ” Freddy ” that visited them in                                                                           upstate New York ?.     How I wish Freddy was still alive.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        I have a lot more information regarding Pitor and Felix, PARTIALLY displayed on my Pitor page or Felix page.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        If you believe you are related to either Pitor or Felix, please click on the buttons below to learn more detailed information regarding the families of Pitor and Felix.
